Texas May 2013

After Troy finished his 3rd year of school we decided to take a little trip to Texas. Troy served his mission in Dallas and had always wanted to go back and visit plus my sister Carolee was living just north of Dallas in Frisco while her husband was doing his fellowship. We stayed with Carolee for the week we were there. It was a lot of fun to go and see all the sites around Troy's mission and visit with people he knew there. He loved reminiscing about his mission and showing us around.

Troy and I went out on a date to this fancy and super delicious Italian restaurant in Frisco. Even the bread they bring to your table was so good, we asked our waiter to bring us more!

Fun with Carolee. We share a talent for squinting just one eye

Brooklyn and Trenton massaging me

Out to dinner at Babe's Chicken

Playing at the park. Lyla is pretending to be a lion growling on top of Pride Rock from the Lion King

One of the Vietnamese church members that Troy was really close to on his mission worked at a nail salon. Him and his companion would go into the salon on their mission and get their nails done and talk with the Vietnamese workers. We went and visited her and of course she wanted to do his nails. And guess what?! She asked Troy, in Vietnamese, if I was Vietnamese! When he said no, that I was American, she said she thought I was Asian because I had eyes like an Asian! This was the second time a Vietnamese person thought that I was also Vietnamese!

This is the building where the ward met for church while Troy was serving in downtown Dallas. They didn't have their own church building until just after he left.

After Troy got his nails done, the Vietnamese woman wanted to take us out to eat lunch. There was a good Vietnamese restaurant close by. Yum!

Troy is standing outside the apartment where he lived for 18 months as a missionary

We stopped by the Dallas Temple. My grandfather was temple president here too!

Lyla doing gymnastics with Brooklyn

We went to Klyde Warren park in downtown Dallas. It is a beautiful park built on top of a freeway tunnel in the middle of downtown. Lyla wanted to pick some flowers for us but ended up pulling out the whole plant!

We also were able to visit with Brian and Katherine Bishop and their family while in Dallas. Troy and gotten very close with them while on his mission and has kept in touch ever since. They had us over for dinner and Lyla loved playing with their daughters. It was fun to visit with so many people that Troy knew from his mission. When were also able to go to church at the ward he was in for 18 months of his mission. Everyone that was in the ward while Troy was serving there remembered him and were so excited to see him again.
